Connecting for Culture: Virtually Engaging Indigenous Learners during COVID

Panel by the Northwest Native American Center of Excellence (NNACoE) & the Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board (NPAIHB)

Sarah Rasmussen-Rehkopf B.S. (Quileute/Makah), Roger Peterson B.A. (Siletz Tribe of Oregon), Christina Uh M.S. (Mayan/Diné)

The country has spent most of this year transitioning to a virtual world. NNACoE and NPAIHB would like to share their challenges and successes in engaging with Indigenous youth and learners virtually and offer how others can position themselves for successful virtual engagement.

Panelists will:
•Discuss the ways in which the design of their programs set them up for success during COVID-19
•Describe how their programs pivoted due to COVID-19, and what made their pivots successful
•Identify the limitations that AIANs may face in virtual times and suggestions on how to address
