AI/AN Medical Students at OHSU

Native medical student enrollment at OHSU has increased by 875% since NNACoE was founded in 2017. As of 2025, OHSU has the 4th highest concentration of Native medical students in the country.

Tribal Health Scholars

The first Tribal Health Scholars cohort began in 2018 and, thus far, 169 scholars have completed the program across 8 cohorts. THS now operates in 9 Tribal communities across Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Alaska.

Wy’east Medicine Pathway

86 scholars, representing more than 50 tribes, have completed the Wy’east Medicine Pathway since 2017. The 2019-20 cohort of Wy’east scholars accounted for 7.9% of all AI/AN matriculants to US medical schools in 2020.

Health Pathway Coaching

NNACoE has mentored over 200 individuals since 2017, and currently supports more than 600 subscribers through our HEALERS Text Mentoring campaign.

Indigenous Faculty Forum

131 Indigenous Faculty have attended at least one Indigenous Faculty Forum since 2017. 39 Indigenous faculty from US medical schools participated in the 2024 IFF hosted in Oahu, HI (pictured right).
